Dr. Norbert Mönter is Medical Director and Managing Director of Management Company “PIBB – psychiatry initiative Berlin Brandenburg”. The support network of PIBB is the first nationwide KV (Alliance of Health Insurance Provider-associated Physicians) -certified physicians network in the field of psychiatry (in accordance with § 87b SGB V).
The PIBB is the management corporation of the non-profit organization of Psychiatry and Mental Health e.V., chaired by Dr. Mönter since its establishment in 2003 until 2015. This inter- professional association today comprises over 250 members, from the psychiatric field, mostly psychiatrists. The PIBB has contracts with several health insurance providers for integrated care of mentally ill people in Berlin and Brandenburg, which together cover a total of almost 3,000 patients .
From 1982 to 2013 Dr. Mönter used to work as a resident doctor in neurology and psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis in a joint practice in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
As a representative of the Professional Association of German Neurologists and Psychiatrists he was involved in the S3 guidelines consensus group “Unipolar Depression” and was a former chairman of the Association of Berlin Neurologists and Psychiatrists. On the side of KBV (National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians) he participates in the “Working Group Prescribed Benefits” of the GBA (United Nationwide Committee). Dr. Mönter is the editor of the book “Mental illness, religion and interpretation of meaning” and coordinates the ’Information and Advice Project’ in religious, in particular Muslim, communities, which is funded through lottery funds.
